Who is Johnny Groat?
Johnny Groat is a fictional, tartan clad, red bearded, friendly character created by Caithness author Colin Sinclair. Johnny rose to fame in 2021 as the star in the massively successful children's adventure book, "The Adventures of Johnny Groat - The Discovery". He serves as a local celebrity mascot who sometimes makes live appearances around the iconic village of John O'Groats. Johnny proves to be a huge hit with tourists, locals and children of all ages.
As part of his continuing growth Johnny is now also the ambassador of "The Johnny Groat Shuttle" A unique transport service operating between Thurso and John O'Groats during the tourist season.
